J.J.Milteau rassemble autour de lui quelques talentueux complices, Michael Robinson, Mike Andersen, Harrison Kennedy, Carlton Moody, sous la houlette de Johan Dalgaard… pour surfer sur une bande sonore imbibée de blues et de toutes les musiques qu’il programme depuis plus de vingt ans dans son émission « Bon Temps Rouler ».

« Toute ma vie a été déterminée par l’achat de mon premier harmonica quand j’avais quinze ans. Pour moi, il a vraiment été The Key To The Highway …

Qu’il s’agisse de la version de Little Walter en 1958, de celle, saisie au vol, de Clapton et Duane Allman en 1970, ou de celle considérée, à tort, comme l’original par Big Bill Broonzy et Jazz Gillum, la chanson « Key to the Highway » est indubitablement considérée comme un classique, voire un hymne ! Les études sur le Blues s’entendent à démontrer que les paroles y sont souvent à prendre au second degré. Mais là on est en plein dans l’évidence : l’aspiration commune à chacun de sortir de sa condition et de trouver un trajet personnel et gratifiant. Même si je n’ai jamais pensé que le modeste « ruine-babine » servirait un tel projet, je dois honnêtement reconnaître que toutes les rencontres qui ont tracé ma vie, sont advenues plus ou moins directement grâce au Marine Band 1896/20. Le petit harmonica a été pour moi, The Key to the Highway » …

Il y aurait tellement de gens à remercier pour l’existence de cet album ... Qu’ils sachent que nous leur sommes infiniment reconnaissants de l’aide ou de l’inspiration qu’ils nous ont apportés sans parfois même en être conscients. Dans une société qui privilégie la compétition, il est bon de rappeler qu’on ne peut rien faire seul.
